  • Jerry Silva

    Sifu

    Sifu Jerry Silva began his martial arts training when he was four years old in Denver Colorado. He began his studies in the Chinese discipline of Gong Fu at a local church. He maintained his studies in Gong Fu for many years, before he began training in contemporary WuShu with Sifu Peter Morales. Sifu Silva began competing in international and nationally sanctioned open tournaments around the world. In 1997 Sifu Silva captured two world titles and several national and international titles through the National Black Belt League (NBL), and Sport Karate International (SKI). After several years of formal training with Sifu Peter Morales, Sifu Silva began training long distance with Sifu Qiu Ming (Ming Liu) . Sifu Silva began his competition career in the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA). In 1998 he captured many championship titles. In 2000 Sifu Silva began training with Beijing super star, Master Zhuang Hui one of China's supreme champions. Sifu Silva is still a student of Master Zhuang Hui's.

  • Noah Goldman

    Instructor Noah Goldman image

    Mr. Noah Goldman began his martial arts studies at six years old and has been involved in the arts for over 18 years. He studied Tae Kwon Do under Master Dan Cerminaro in California. At the age of sixteen Mr. Goldman moved to Denver Colorado where he continued his Tae Kwon Do studies. Soon he was introduced to Chinese Martial Arts/ Wushu and began training with Shifu Jerry Silva. Mr. Goldman began competing in several local and national competitions; Berkeley CMAT, Taiji Legacy, US Wushu Nationals, US Open, Capital Classic and the Chinese Open. Mr. Goldman also studied gymnastics privately for two years to help enhance his martial arts skills. Mr. Goldman specializes in the following forms of wushu; Nan Quan (Southern Fist), Dao Shu (Broadsword), Gun Shu (Long Staff), Pudao (Horse Cutter), and Baji Quan (Eight Extremes Fist).

    Mr. Goldman hopes to help new students with his knowledge and experience to all students of National Martial Arts Academy.

  • Austin Jorgensen

    Assistant Instructor

    Instructor Austin Jorgensen image

    Mr. Austin Jorgensen has been training in wushu at the National Martial Arts Academy for five years under Shifu Jerry Silva. Mr. Jorgensen has competed in several local and national martial arts tournaments held by the following circuits; NASKA (North American Sport Karate Association) and the National Black Belt League (NBL). Mr. Jorgensen recently won three World Champion Titles through the NBL martial arts circuit.

    Mr. Jorgensen specializes in the following forms of wushu; Drunken Straight Sword (Zui Jian), Chang Quan (Long Fist) and Through the Back (Tongbei Quan).

    Mr. Jorgensen hopes to inspire students to always work hard to reach their goals no matter how difficult they might be.

  • Derric Samuels

    Mr. Derric Samuels began his martial arts training at age ten and began competing and performing at local competitions at age sixteen. In 2002 he became more interested in the fighting aspects of martial arts and started training for full contact matches. In 2003 he competed in world sanctioned competitions and was ranked fourth in his class amongst some of the nations decorated athletes. In 2006 Mr. Samuels began training in Chinese Wushu focusing on the Nan Quan (Southern Fist) and Southern Staff (Nan Gun). Mr. Samuels received his Black Sash in December of 2008 and teaches under the academies general curriculum and Sanda program.

    Mr. Samuels goals are to bring out the very best in all students not just in martial arts, but the very best in all aspects of their lives.

  • Faris Maaliki

    Assistant Instructor

    Mr. Faris Maaliki has been training in martial arts for over nine years. He began his training in Denver Colorado under Sifu Eric Bernsdorf at Wah Lum Kung Fu where he specialized in; Iron Body and Lion Dance. In 2007 he began training in contemporary wushu under Shifu Jerry Silva at the National Martial Arts Academy where he specializes in the following; Praying Mantis Fist (Tonlong quan), Long Fist (Chang Quan) and Broadsword (Dao Shu).

    Mr. Maaliki has participated in several Local and national martial arts competitions where he has won many first place gold medals and grand champion titles. He continues to compete in open tournaments and hopes one day of becoming a major movie fight choreographer.

  • Dennis Chislum

    Leadership Instructor

    Instructor Dennis Chislum image

    Mr. Dennis Chislum has many years of formal martial arts training including; Karate, Wing Chun, Kung Fu and Wushu. He has participated in several local and national competitions where he has demonstrated the necessary skills and passion to become a champion athlete in the future. This passion is evident in his everyday interactions with all new and potential students at NMAA. Mr. Chislum is estimated to receive his black belt in July 2011 and once received he will move from the Leadership Instructor position to a full position of Assistant Instructor.

    Mr. Chislum hopes to one day own and operate his own branch of NMAA where he can teach the fundamental life skills and character development of each student.
